What do we do?

This year is our tenth year in business and we still get asked what does a wedding designer do? Well the answer is lots….

We have different sections of our business we offer wedding and event decor hire services where you can choose your must have items from our huge stock list including Scotland’s largest selection of chiavari chair hire, luxury linens, centerpieces, backdrops & draping and all the lovely pretty accessories, charger plates and candle holders that make up your perfect tablescape. We’ll carefully count and re count your hire, then lovingly pack it up to ensure it arrives at your venue safely, then we unpack and place items as per your chosen set up style, making sure every last detail is perfect for you. Were back the next day to your venue to collate, check and re pack it all, the finding of all the hire items is always the thing that takes the longest time – drunk guests and shift changes at venues means this isnt always as straight forward as hoped! Its then back to our stockroom for the kit to be re counted, cleaned and placed back in its location ready for the next hire.

We also offer full wedding design services where we discuss your requirements then set to work to design your perfect wedding day and or event. We truly love this part of our job, getting our creative juices flowing and inspiring you with our ideas to make your dream even better in reality. The wedding industry moves at such a fast pace meaning there is always new ideas to be found/created and this part of our job is really exciting.

Our in house wedding & event florist is a blooming big part of our business, where we guide you to create the perfect flowers for your celebration and chosen budget. We create bouquets, bridal party flowers from buttonholes to corsages, ceremony, reception and thank you flowers for weddings and events. We work with you giving you our knowledge and design ideas to make your wedding and event flowers unique to you, it’s a very personal service backed up by our years of industry knowledge and experience. Together once we have firmed up your chosen options, we order your blooms fresh from Holland, 65% of Europe’s flowers come from Holland and we work with the very best they have to offer to ensure you get the highest quality and most reliable consistency for you. On arrival we check and condition each and every bloom, removing any guard petals, leaves and thorns, cutting their stalks and placing them into cool water for them to drink up and begin to flourish. After which we start working with them to create the designs we’ve discussed with you and then we personally deliver them to you with our after care policy information so you know how to keep them at their very best as nothing less will do for your celebrations.

Our wedding planning services vary per client and are tailored to their needs. So if you just need a hand finding the right suppliers or a bespoke or hard to find must have, or you want us to take over the reins and pull all your hard work together in the last 12 weeks, the lead up is always stressful and this is a popular servivce for our clients. Or you want us on hand from the very start of your wedding planning right through to your first dance, guiding you in what you should be doing, pulling everything together behind the scenes and making sure everything runs flawlessly for you – we do that to 🙂

Lots of people think we have very glamorous jobs but the reality is a little different, you’ll often find us down on our hands and knees picking fluff from the floor and making sure everything is as it should be. The logistics of hiring out thousands of items week in week out means lots of forward planning, admin and calls to venues for access and collection times and to prep them what we are doing/bringing. Then there’s the cleaning, counting, re counting, packing, unpacking, packing and unpacking, counting, re counting and cleaning which goes into every hire/wedding/event. We’ve ordering to attend to, buying or creating depending on our briefs, that’s where our super reliable and trusted suppliers come into play, we are eternally grateful for them, their knowledge and reliability. Then on the special days themselves we are up at the crack of dawn, finishing bridal party flowers, loading our van and heading to which ever lovely venue we are working at that day. We travel all over Scotland so start times vary depending on where we are off to. There is so much work that goes into setting up and event or wedding, making sure each and every detail and place setting is perfect for 100 – 300 guests, erecting backdrops, installing full White carpets, positioning 100 plus of each and every item just where it needs to be. It’s so important we work in a clean and tidy manner as there is often show rounds happening at the same time so through all this we also need to be focused on our customer service and be ready and available to chat as needs be. Then its time to pack up or its time to ensure everyone else has arrived on schedule and the day goes to plan. Then it’s onto the next client, the next design, the next quote, meeting, idea and it’s execution… There is no doubt a wedding designer is hard graft but the utter joy of hearing the “ohhh” and “Ahhhs” as guests arrive and that feedback message from our clients post wedding truly makes it all worth while x
